What I love about living at Mollison in Furneaux Street.

One of the best things about Mollison is the location absolutely everything you could want is on hand. It is wonderful to be able to walk down to the movies at the weekend (or during the week) and to an amazing array of brilliant restaurants of all types and budgets. There is no need to worry about driving when you are this close to dinner options. My personal favourite is Kopi Tiam (for the best laksa in Canberra, perhaps in Australia!) or for a quick sushi at Mee's Sushi. I am a member of a gym in Manuka, which takes me minutes to get to and a church that we can walk to. And we, and our friends, have no parking problems if we want to go to a game at the Manuka Oval!

From this house I can cycle on the bike path around the lake to ANU or bike, walk or drive to take the dog up Red Hill National park and be in the bush. And I can easily walk to my studio in Griffith.

It is incredibly easy and safe for children. My children have attended Mocca preschool and been able to walk to school (Canberra Grammar). With pre school and post school events and activities such as choir and water polo, this has been extremely useful. Both boys were involved in lake activities and Mollison's proximity to the lake meant rowing, sailing and dragon boating were super easy to be part of.

I personally love the sound of the church bells (St Christopher and St Pauls) which makes me feel like I am close to a small community and reminds me what time it is!

The garden is marvellous for entertaining at home; whether that is an adult party or a children's party there is plenty of space and it is very private yet easy to graduate to another venue (like the cinema) if wanted. The 20 metre swimming lap pool, with solar heating, is great for fun, relaxation or exercise. Both boys had after school, holiday and weekend jobs in Manuka, which meant early starts and late evenings were safe and easy, and allowed them to become progressively more independent.

The garden supplies a lot of food, fruit and vegetable and herbs abound. There is also always something in flower so it is always beautiful to sit in and the house has fresh flowers. The garden has been designed for easy maintenance. Although the lawns need mowing the flower-beds are intended to ramble.

The house is as lovely to live in as its character and charm suggest. It can be opened up during summer, and rooms and spaces closed off for warmth in winter. The different spaces and areas are excellent when members of the family have different needs (such as xbox or music practice!). When guests come the East wing is very private. The house has fantastic storage!
